What I have concluded by watching Bambi, in Italiano, last night, during a thunderstorm, is that all exchange students are Bambis. Everyone is excited by our arrival, like when Bambi is born; Everyone tries to talk to us, even though we don’t always understand; Everything is new and exciting; People try to teach us new words, like when Thumper teaches Bambi “Bird”; and we often don’t understand the actual meaning, like when Bambi calls a butterfly “bird”; We are almost completely dependant on others; like Bambi following his mother; New things sometimes scare us and we just want to run back to our mothers, like during the thunderstorm, but if we wait it out it gets so much better; Sometimes we rush into things too quickly, like in the meadow; and sometimes we get lost, like when Man enters the forest and everyone runs. We make friends, like Faline, Thumper, and Flower; We ask a lot of questions; and we change with loss and achievement. We fall in love with the culture, food, and the people here; and no matter what we always find a way home. This is why I wouldn’t mind if my nickname was Bambi.
All exchange students are Bambi!
